I bought BMD when it was version 3 on a promo ahead of the version 4 release. It was $47 and at the time I considered it a waste of money.

Today BMD costs $147 (and the price is about to go again up blah blah….), three times the price, and I think its worth every cent.

In the early days of BMD:

  • It shipped with a limited number of targets half of which did not work
  • You had totype in captchas yourself
  • You had to confirm emails yourself

It sat gathering dust for over a year whilst successive upgrades were released, which ultimately included the following crucial features:

  • Ability to add Pligg, PHP Dugg and Scuttle targets
  • Auto mail confirmation
  • Outsourced captcha solution

This means you can now submit to hundreds of sites (though you need to harvest / buy a target list) instead of 20 working targets in a much more “hands off” fashion.

With version 5 they got the scheduler working properly. This means you can load up a calendar with X number of links per day. Then just minimise bmd to the system tray and leave it to do its thing. I have left it running for weeks at a time on a VPS dripping links out every day without further intervention.

There is a bit of a learning curve with BMD but nothing too severe. It does take a little time to set things up, but for most tasks you can leave it running and come back to it.

BMD does take a long time to do things, and you really need to be able to leave it running. If you can afford it then consider getting a cheap Windows VPS to leave it running on.

BMD has come a long way from the ball of chalk I first encountered. Its a sophisticated professionally developed and supported application now.

It can be used to backlink your sites directly, and also to backlink your existing backlinks. For example, you could backlink articles pointing at your site with this tool.

Its SEO effects are not that great, the links it gets are pretty low grade. Some are no followed.

BMD is a one off cost of $147, and maybe another $30 for a target list of Pligg / PHP Dugg / Scuttle sites, and from that point on all you pay for is captcha solutions which are pretty cheap. And for that you can churn out large numbers of versatile links on demand.

Should You Buy Bookmarking Demon?

Buy this tool if you are doing any of the following:

  • Building a large number of niche websites for which you desire a supply of craplinx
  • Are using article marketing / link building services like Unique Article Wizzard (backlink your articles)
  • Want to increase the value of links already pointing at your site

  1. Is there any type of bookmarklet in BD that you can put on your browswer and just submit to a few of the major bookmarking sites as you browse the net? I like Onlywire but cant get it to work half the time.

No Ive only ever tried onlyWire and found time vs results pretty poor, as I have various tools that can do bookmarks I dont really need to look for anything else…

What is a good place to purchase a list as I don’t fancy scraping and sorting through lists of scuttle and pligg sites etc

You mention cheap Windows VPS, can’t one use this software just from a home pc?! Sorry if sounds stupid, just learning :( Did not find any info on this, thought I ask you.
    Thanks a lot!

      Hi Kumar,

Yes you can run it on your PC. The reason you may want to consider a vps is:

      1) More bandwidth
      2) 24 / 7 running

BMD has a scheduler and you can tell it to drop x links per day and leave it running, so its good to have it run on a machine that does not get turned off.

I dont have a PC like that, nor do I have a particularly fast internet connection where I live, so I use a VPS.

If you have a spare PC and have cable, and router etc you can get the most out of it from home.

Either way, VPS is a useful “nice to have” not an essential.

But… before you buy… what other software do you already own?

Sick is another good product that you may actually get more out of, with a lower up front cost of $19 pm. Have you looked at sick already?
